A new step in the socialization of Provadia- Solnitsata

A new step in the socialization of Provadia- Solnitsata

16.08.2025г.

Over the past month, around the central site of the salt-production and urban center of Provadia-Solnitsata - the settlement and burial mound - a circular road 3 to 4 meters wide was constructed, graveled, and rolled. It had partially existed in recent years, but now it has been extended to the northern and eastern periphery of the monument, widened, covered with fine gravel, and finally rolled. An expansion has also been made under the metal canopy that protects the southern gate of the first and second stone fortresses from the Middle Chalcolithic. The newly built road will make it possible for the prehistoric monument to be visited and explored even in unfavorable weather, while the extension under the canopy will provide free access for people with mobility impairments.

As in previous years, benches and a canopy have been provided for those waiting for the guided tour to begin; along the road, visitors will find informational posters and toilets, and before the end of the tour, a souvenir stand. An interactive dome will soon be installed as well, which is sure to attract great interest.
