Тhe ceremony “Bulgaria – Land of Wonders"

Dear fans and friends of the Solnitsata! On the Day of the Bulgarian Enlighteners – 1 November, the National Theatre “Ivan Vazov” in Sofia hosted a special event: the ceremony “Bulgaria – Land of Wonders”, organized by the Cultural Heritage Society and the media outlet Standart. During the ceremony, awards were presented to teams working on the research and preservation of Bulgaria’s cultural heritage over the past 15 years – the period during which Standart has held its annual public recognition initiative in these categories.

Winners in the different categories – “Archaeological Discovery,” “Cultural and Historical Attraction,” “Cultural and Historical Destination,” and “Memory” (for museums, libraries, and community cultural centers) – were announced and honored.

The most competitive category this year was “Archaeological Discovery”, recognizing research with major significance for science, society, and cultural tourism. Thanks to the fair and enthusiastic voting of tens of thousands of supporters and friends of Provadia–Solnitsata, this unique prehistoric salt-production and urban center – unparalleled in Europe – received one of the three equal First Prizes!

The archaeological team of Provadia–Solnitsata has the pleasant duty to express heartfelt gratitude to everyone who voted in support of our efforts – to uncover, conserve, restore, protect, and present to the world this remarkable monument of Europe’s earliest civilization. Our sincere thanks go to the people of Provadia and the Municipality of Provadia for their strong support, as well as to our fans and friends from the region and from many other parts of the country. Your dedication, honesty, persistence, and love for this unique site inspire us to continue forward with even greater determination.
