During the excavation of part of a burnt two-storey house from an earlier phase of the Late Chalcolithic, dated to around 4500 BC, a highly significant find was discovered: charred grain.

During the excavation of the remains of a burned Late Chalcolithic house at Provadia-Solnitsata, we discovered numerous fragments of wall plaster on which a rich red paint is still clearly visible.
